Discoveries: Textures

Many of the apps we use include effects and textures that can be applied to our photographs as our stylizing workflow reveals itself.

As creatives, we can collect our own textures to add to our work. Use your Apple Camera or for macro views use Camera + 2. Actually, any camera in use for a photo shoot can be used to capture textures. Remember that some camera apps keep images in their own Lightbox until you've edited and exported to the camera roll.

Are you still not convinced about the popularity of textures? Use your browser to make a Google search for textures. If you have a social media account like Instagram, Flickr, etc., then check out what folks are doing.

For my work I have two texture workflows. An album in Photos has some favorite and recent textures. In PhotoManager Pro on my iPad I have a folder for textures that are reference images. After importing images to PMP they can be deleted from my Camera Roll/All Photos.

How are you building your texture library?
