Watching other YouTube videos by photographers and reading the viewer COMMENTS reveals interesting possibilities. Several refer to Pixelmator Photo and editing in place (on external SSD) vs copying to local storage (on iPad). Back in 2019 Noah Herman's video iPad Pro + External Storage | Photo/Video Workflow Demo! talks really fast but offers important clues for workflow.

A Photos app Extension is Markup, Apple introduced several iOSs ago. I use it to add details to screen snapshots, annotate photos and draw in Notes. Read about Markup.
